| AUDITIONS Dance company is for motivated, accomplished dance students who wish to perform more frequently than in a yearly recital. Dancers must be at least age four to audition for youth division junior company groups. Open auditions may be held at the beginning of the dance year. Most auditions are by invitation when the instructor sees motivation and commitment from an accomplished and/or gifted dancer. There are many factors that are taken into consideration when choosing dancers - ability to perform various dance styles, mastery at basic skills, ability to perform some upper level skills which increase at each level, comfort in front of audiences, stage presence (confidence, eye contact, attitude, projection), attention to detail, desire to improve, ability to learn dances very quickly, motivation, dependability, ability to stay focused, etc. Apprentices and Juniors usually only perform in one dance. |

| REHEARSALS Dancers must be willing and able to attend approximately 2-4 rehearsals a month (possibly more before performances or competition), rehearsals held on Friday afternoons (and others if scheduled), and make the commitment for a year. Juniors will have fewer and shorter rehearsals. All company dancers are required to do fund raising for costumes and activities. Dance company tuition is charged on a semester basis in addition to monthly dance class tuition. |

| DANCE COMPANY LEVELS Dancers must be re-accepted to dance company each year. Dancers accepted into the company are grouped by levels as Shining Stars, Shooting Stars, Comets, Twinkles, and Moonbeams according to age and ability.
Most dancers will initially be invited to rehearse and perform with the dance company as apprentices. Dancers are placed in choreography based on their strength and ability in specific dance styles. Auditions for specific parts may be held when new choreography is arranged or when a part becomes available. |

| DANCE COMPETITION Dance competition events are for performers with polished, well-rehearsed, competition-ready dances and a glowing performance attitude (stage presence). Dancers must show a strong effort to prepare the best performance possible for their ability. Dancers who are performing with the company may be invited to attend competition as a group, duo, or soloist. Not all dancers in duos and solos may be selected to perform in competition. Attendance in at least one group dance in competition is mandatory when a group dance is entered in competition. Dance competition is an additional expense and not included in dance company tuition. |

| EXPECTATIONS All company dancers are expected to behave in a professional manner, be courteous to and supportive of their fellow dancers, follow instructions, attend rehearsals regularly, and be attentive and dedicated at rehearsal. Dancers who are unable to adhere to these expectations may be put on probation or asked to leave dance company. |
